SheSpoke Racing is all about bringing women into the sport of bike racing and creating a space to learn and grow as cyclists. We have fun and we race hard – but most importantly we are awesome to each other.
We focus on racing on the road and at the track – and many on our squad also race in the dirt.
SheSpoke Racing was founded in 2015 primarily to focus on new racer development. Women cyclists are less likely than men to have female bike-racing friends to inspire and teach them, and let’s be real: this sport can be intimidating! We wanted to create a welcoming, fun space for women to try, learn, and grow as bike racers. We spun off of SheSpoke Cycling Club, which supports women’s recreational rides in San Francisco, but is run separately from the racing team.
SheSpoke Racing team members embody our values of mutual support and learning, camaraderie, and positivity – we support each other and other racers, we build community alongside competitiveness, and we are proactive in growing the sport through our actions and our attitudes.
Beyond racing, many of our team members are active in the community: they volunteer as mentors and board members at Hellyer Velodrome and the NCNCA, do charity rides including AIDS LifeCycle, and participate in group events like the Death Ride, Oakland Gran Fondo, and Rapha Women’s 100.
SheSpoke Racing is grassroots and team-driven – everyone pitches in, from managing our social media channels to organizing team rides to finding and sharing the best YouTube ab workouts.
